If your address has no energy, TronLink burns TRX when you send USDT: 6.5 TRX for a standard transfer and 13.1 TRX for a transfer to an address with no USDT yet. If you rent energy to your address first, the network uses it instead of TRX. Below is the whole process, from copying your address to checking the transaction in the block explorer.
What you need
- TronLink with USDT TRC-20 in your balance. The mobile app or the browser extension both work: the steps are the same.
- A little TRX on the same address. Energy pays for running the USDT contract, but a transfer also uses bandwidth. When the free daily allowance runs out, the network burns a small amount for it, a fraction of a TRX.
- An activated address. If your address has never received TRX, it may not be activated on the network yet. A transfer will not go out from it until some TRX arrives.
- The recipient’s address. It decides how much energy you need.
- The app.usdtpull.com app. It only needs your wallet address. Your keys and seed phrase stay with you.
If TronLink is connected to a Ledger, everything works the same way. Energy goes to the Ledger address, and you confirm the transfer on the device.
Step 1: Copy the address you will send from
On TRON, the sender pays for energy. So you need to rent it to your own address, the one the USDT will leave from. If you rent energy to the recipient’s address, your transfer will still burn TRX.
Open TronLink and select the wallet you will send from. The address is usually shown on the main screen under the wallet name, with a copy icon next to it. Another way: the receive button, where the full address is shown along with a QR code.
A TRON address starts with a capital T and is 34 characters long. After copying, compare the first and last characters with what you see in the wallet.
Step 2: Check how much energy you already have
Your address may already have energy: from your own staked TRX or from a previous rental. The network uses it first and covers the rest by burning TRX. So check your current balance before ordering.
In TronLink
Energy is shown in the account resources section. It looks different in the app and in the extension, but it usually has two lines: Energy and Bandwidth. If you do not see them on the main screen, open the wallet details.
In TronScan
- Open the TronScan block explorer (tronscan.org) and paste your address into the search bar.
- On the address page, find the resources block. It shows your available energy and bandwidth.
- Further down, the token list shows whether the address holds USDT and TRX.
If the wallet shows outdated data, go by TronScan. You will need the block explorer later too: it shows whether the rented energy has arrived.
How much energy a transfer needs
| Recipient | Energy per transfer | Burned without energy |
|---|---|---|
| The address already holds USDT | about 65,000 | 6.5 TRX |
| The address has no USDT yet | about 131,000 | 13.1 TRX |
To see which case applies, look up the recipient’s address in TronScan and check its token list. If there is no USDT or the balance is zero, it is a transfer to a new address. The amount does not affect energy use: 10 USDT and 10,000 USDT cost the same.
Step 3: Rent energy
- Open the UsdtPull app.
- Paste the address you copied in step 1.
- Enter the amount of energy: 65,000 for a standard transfer or 131,000 for a transfer to a new address. If your address already has some energy, take it into account.
- Choose the rental period. You need to send the transfer before it ends.
- Check the total price and pay for the order.
Here is what it costs at an example rate of 32 SUN per unit of energy for 1 hour. 65,000 energy costs 2.08 TRX instead of 6.5 TRX burned, and 131,000 energy costs 4.19 TRX instead of 13.1 TRX. This is an example: the exact price is shown in the app before you pay, and how it is calculated is explained on the Pricing page.
UsdtPull temporarily sends energy to your address. It does not need your keys or seed phrase, only the address. The delegation is visible in the block explorer, and when the period ends, the energy returns on its own.
Step 4: Make sure the energy has arrived
Go back to TronLink and refresh the resources screen: the energy line should go up by the amount you ordered. If the wallet shows outdated data, open your address in TronScan. It shows both the available energy and the resource delegation transaction to your address.
Send USDT only after the energy shows up. If you send earlier, the network burns TRX as if there had been no rental.
Step 5: Send USDT
- In TronLink, open USDT and tap Send.
- Make sure it is the real USDT TRC-20. Its contract address is
TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t. Fake tokens with the same name exist on the network. - Paste the recipient’s address. Do not copy it from your transaction history: scammers send tiny transfers from addresses that look like real ones, hoping you will copy the wrong one. Check the whole address, not just the start and end.
- Enter the amount and go to the confirmation screen.
- Look at the confirmation screen. If the wallet shows a fee of several TRX, your address does not have enough energy: stop and go back to step 4. A small charge for bandwidth is fine, it is a fraction of a TRX.
- Confirm the transfer.
What to check after the transfer
- Transaction status. Open it in TronScan, from your TronLink history or from your address page. The transaction should show as successful.
- Resources used. The transaction page shows how much energy and bandwidth the transfer used and how much TRX was burned. With rented energy, no TRX should be burned for energy.
- Recipient’s balance. The USDT should appear in the token list on their address.
- Energy left. If you ordered 131,000 and the transfer used about 65,000, the rest is enough for one more standard transfer before the period ends. When the period ends, the energy returns on its own, with nothing for you to do.
Common mistakes
- Energy rented to the recipient’s address. The sender pays for energy, so the transfer burns TRX from your address.
- 65,000 ordered for a transfer to a new address. The network uses that energy and burns 6.6 TRX for the missing 66,000.
- The transfer was sent before the energy arrived. The network burns the full amount in TRX.
- One order for several transfers. 65,000 energy covers one standard transfer. Two transfers need twice as much.
- The rental period ended before the transfer. The energy returned, and the transfer burns TRX again.
- No TRX on the address. The transfer may fail because of bandwidth or because the address is not activated.
Where to rent energy
Open the UsdtPull app, paste your address and choose the amount for your transfer. The general process of renting energy is in the Guides section, and answers to common questions are in the FAQ.
